Our mission at Overbrook Elementary is to build tomorrow’s productive citizens by providing maximum opportunities for education, cultural, social, and technological growth. This is accomplished through the collaborative efforts of the principal, teachers, staff, parents, business partners, community members, and most importantly, the students.
Our vision statement at Overbrook Elementary is: Dream It! Believe It! Achieve It!
Our core beliefs at Overbrook Elementary include:
- All students can achieve.
- Good teaching matters.
- Strong leadership is essential for success.
- Parents and Community are partners in learning.
- Our school is a safe and caring place.
School Hours
Students can be dropped off starting at 7:00 am. Students are not permitted to enter the school building before this time. Classes at Overbrook Elementary start 7:30 am. After that time, parents will need to escort children to the main entrance and sign them in. For safety and efficiency reasons, students cannot be signed out of school after 1:30 pm. If your child has an appointment and needs to leave school early, please sign your student out before 1:30 pm as buses start arriving for dismissal at this time. Bus students and day care van riders start dismissing at 1:50 pm. Walkers and car riders will not be dismissed until close to 2:00 pm. This allows time for the loading of bus and day care van students. Cars are not allowed on the parking lot until after all buses and day care vans have exited school property.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Drop-Off Procedures
- Drop off in the mornings must not occur before 7:00 a.m. There will be no one present to supervise or direct your child to his or her classroom until 7:00 a.m.
- Please be patient with us as there may be a longer wait-time for drop off as we coordinate emptying school buses and cars as we must allow extra time for students to enter the building and allow social distancing.
- Please remain in your car. A staff member will open the car door and direct students into the building. Please do not let your child out of the car until directed by a staff member. Teachers and staff will be present to direct students into the building.
- Breakfast will be provided to students in the cafeteria. If students arrive to school after 7:25, they will receive a grab and go breakfast if they choose to eat.
- Students must be present and in the class by 7:30 a.m., otherwise they will be counted as tardy or absent.
Pick-Up Procedures
- Students who are bus riders and daycare vans will be dismissed starting at 1:50 p.m.. Students will be dismissed based on bus number and bus stop.
- Please be patient as this method for dismissal will take some time, especially the first few weeks as new students are learning the routine.
- Walkers will not be dismissed until after the buses have departed from Overbook.
- Car Riders: Traffic build sup quickly so please do not arrive at Overbrook until at least 2:00 p.m.. Please do not park along the sides of Oakwood Road leading to Overbook to wait until 2:00 p.m. as this will cause additional problems.
- When you pull into the parking lot (there will be two lanes) to pick up your student, please be ready to provide your students name and class. We will use walkie talkies to call your student out of class. Please be patient with us as this may take some time for students to exit the building and practice social distancing.
