 Everyday Math

Everyday Mathematics at Home provides help with Home and Study Link problems, selected answers, vocabulary definitions, tutorials on algorithms, and games.  For more information, follow the above link.  Student usernames and passwords were provided on stickers that were given to all students.  Check your child’s agenda or folder for this sticker.

ST Math

ST Math is game-based instructional software for K-12 and is designed to boost math comprehension and proficiency through visual learning.  Every student at Overbrook has an ST Math account that they can access from home.  For more information about how to use ST Math at home, please click on the below link.

Front Row (Reading and Math)

Front Row is an online, individualized Math and Reading program.  Students are presented with problems exactly at their skill level, keeping them engaged and challenged.  Several classrooms at Overbrook use Front Row.  If your child’s teacher is using this program and you would like to login at home, simple click the Front Row link.

SmartyAnts (Grades K, 1, 2 and 3)

Smarty Ants® is an online program that differentiates instruction in foundational reading skills.  The program adapts to the student’s individual level and then advances the child’s achievement by continually measuring his or her progress.  The program then adjusts the instruction accordingly.  For online access, please click the SmartyAnts login link.

Read Theory (Grades 3, 4 and 5)

Read Theory offers online reading activities for all ages and ability levels. The program adapts to students’ individual ability levels and gives them activities that match their levels and develop reading skills.  The program is fun and motivational. Book Buddies

Overbrook Elementary’s Book Buddy program  serves selected Kindergarten and 1st grade students in need of extra reading help.  Volunteers work with students twice a week for 15 to 20 minutes to help reinforce reading skills.  For more information on the program, please contact Mrs. Sue Dixon, the Book Buddy Program Coordinator, at sdixon@mail.kana.k12.wv.us

Running Club

The Overbrook Elementary Running Club is for students in 2nd through 5th grades.  The club meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:00 am in the Activity Room.   The first day of Running Club for this school year will be Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Chess Club

The Overbrook Elementary Chess Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students interested in learning to play chess.  The club meets on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

Safety Patrols

The 5th grade students serve as safety patrols at Overbrook Elementary.  Students will rotate through positions and help with arrival and dismissal times.  Students must show excellent character in order to participate in the safety patrol program.
